Secure storage for 4500 loaded and empty containers. All loaded containers are stored in a secure compound under rail mounted gantry cranes between the rail lines and the road transfer lanes to allow for quick and efficient transfer between modes. |
Working Round The Clock
Widnes IRD is open and fully operational on a 24 hour basis Monday through to Saturday noon. Lifting out of these hours normal hours can be accomodated by prior arrangement. |
Bespoke Positional System
Cutting edge technology for the 21st century operator. With touch screen technology and smart computer systems every container in our care is given an exact location, with every move these positions are updated in real time leaving our staff to concentrate on servicing the vehicles and trains. |
Road / Rail Interchange
Providing the intermodal solution. During 2005 we handled over 40,000 units by rail that helped remove over 10 million lorry miles from our congested motorway network. |
Vehicle Turnaround Times
Our aim is to provide the ultimate in terminal efficiency for road and rail operators alike. We monitor and report daily on vehicle turnarounds delivering a 15 minute turnaround time for all pre booked vehicles. We actively promote customers/hauliers to pre-advise us of their requirements to help us achieve our goals. |
Security
Investment in systems and personnel keep the site incident free. Full access control systems are in place to ensure admittance and monitoring of authorised personnel only by proximity card. Interactive CCTV images provide virtual patrolling to complement the physical presence of company employed guards. The fully fenced perimeter and security compound are protected by passive beams linked to intuitive alarms. |
