The O’Connor family has today, the 15th of August 2007, agreed to sell their 100% shareholding in the O’Connor Group Management Limited to the Westlink Group Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of The Westbury Property Fund Limited) (‘Westbury’) which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. The disposal is conditional on shareholder approval of Westbury which is expected to be received on 5th Septemberion. Westbury has also agreed to merge with the Stobart Group. On completion of the merger, Westbury will change its name to Stobart Group Limited. For the O’Connor Group, it will be ‘business as usual’ with no changes planned in personnel or operations. The Group will continue its ongoing investment in the infrastructure at the Widnes site. O’Connor Group will, for the present, retain its name and brand as a division of Stobart Group and there will be opportunities for the O’Connor management team to contribute to the development of Westlink’s other North West businesses including AHC Westlink and The Port of Weston."O’Connor Group will become part of a large, successful, quoted public company which will offer opportunities for all employees, customers and suppliers alike.The new group will invest substantially in the Widnes 3MG site This significant development will enable The Stobart Group to offer fully integrated transport and logistics solutions incorporating road haulage, rail freight and waterborne transport systems.
