Rail Capacity
Currently, five rail sidings totalling approximately 2,500 metres of track are in place at Widnes Intermodal Rail Depot. An ongoing expansion programme will increase the number of sidings to eight, including an overflow facility. All operational sidings are workable under the rail mounted gantry cranes. 9'6" Clearance
Based on the West Coast Main Line, W10 clearance is in place from Felixstowe to Widnes to convey high cube containers by rail on standard wagons thus avoiding the need for specialised equipment. |
Storage Capacity
The terminal capacity exceeding 4,500 container spaces of secure loaded storage allows the option to bring containers forward from port at an earlier juncture. Competitive storage rates are chargeable in lieu of penalty charges at port allowing effective close proximity delivery for "just in time" scheduling. |
