Vehicle Fleet
O'Connor Transport operate up to 90 vehicles in the delivery of import and export maritime containers. All vehicles enter the fleet from new and to a very high specification of space and comfort for our drivers. Each is replaced on a strict rotational programme. Currently, the principal supplier of vehicles to the O'Connor Group is Haydock Commercials, main agents for Scania.
Trailer Fleet
A full range of container carrying skeletal trailers is necessary to cater for varied applications. Multi-trailer operations are a mainstay of the business. Building trailer pools for drop and swap operations at strategic locations to meet with customer requirement is encouraged to remove time sensitivity and improve DC efficiency.
The Safety Aspect
The safe delivery of hazardous packed cargo in containers requires commitment, control and expertise. The company employs drivers trained to ADR standard each issued with individual PPE and safety equipment. Several managers qualified to DGSA, NEBOSH level and an in-house specialist in environmental law provide the in depth experience and knowledge to support this specialist field. Each process is risk assessed and audited on an ongoing basis.
Computerised Solutions
The Transport Operating System (TOPS) provided by Fargo Systems has been pioneered by the O'Connor Group since early in its development. The relationship with Fargo has grown as the product has been refined and the boundaries pushed forward. Recent developments include:
* Booking instructions being received direct to the system via EDI transfer
* Linked proof of delivery (POD) capture and archive retriva
* Real time job status updating from driver hand-held Xda computers
* Driver text messaging with audit trail to TOPS
* Linking TOPS to vehicle tracking for driver and load security
* Integrated transport and container location systems
Track and Trace
Satellite vehicle tracking and immobiliser systems supplied by Seveneye Limited provide driver safety and peace of mind. Real time consignment locations are integrated with the computerised transport operating system, to accurately update on-screen displays and enable the efficient and secure transportation of goods. Historical audit trails are available to report retrospectively on individual movements.
